SOLUTION

RESULTS

With the core cut 1 15 meters in two runs. which is from 3805 to 3920 meters

The coring time is about 20 hours, and ROPIS 5.75 m/h

The recovery rate is more than 85%

Overview

In the Liaohe Oilfield in China, the operator Liaohe Oilfield Coring Technology Services planned to drilling in the deep well of 3805 meters. The formation is extremely hard and lithology is granite with the compress strength more than 24000PSL. Its objective was to core the 8 1/2” hole section of the well to recover the hard formation. The normal PDC core bit had only low recover rate and less core cut. Therefore Deepfast offers its new designed Impregnated Core Bit to achieve this goal in deep and hard formation.

Results

The operator praised this project as excellent job. This Impregnated Core Bit 8 1/2” x 4” DIC280 achieve 115 meters core cut just by two runs in the depth from 3805 to 3920 meters. The total core time is only 20 hours which saving two runs and 24 hours that means saving 128,000 RMB. Moreover, the average ROP is 5.75 m/h and recovery rate is more than 85, which also exceed expectation. The keys to achieving this performance were core bit design and improvement so that it could encounter the very hard and abrasive formations. DeepFast not only improved the strength of coring tools prepared for different types of rock, it also customized the impregnated insert and curved crown design to increase both recovery rate and ROP.
